The Temporary Off Leash Area is located at the entrance to the Military Reserve in a flood retention basin. There are 5 acres for pups to run and play as well as trails heading into the foothills. Your dog should be leashed everywhere in the Military Reserve except for the designated OLA (the flood retention basin only).
Please remember to take bags and a leash with you if you decide to go for a hike.

Military Reserve abuts the foothills Northeast of downtown Boise.
You can get there by:

  • Following Broadway to its northern end (towards the hills). The road curves to the left. Make an immediate right on Reserve Street. You'll see the Ft. Boise playing fields on your left. Turn left on Mountain Cove Road. Park in the parking lot to the left and cross the street to the temporary OLA. Your car will be towed if you park on the berm. Please keep your dogs leashed until safely in the Off Leash Area.

  • Take State Street east to Reserve Street. Turn left on Reserve, follow directions above.

The Military Reserve is shown on city maps and the OLA is located at the entrance on the north side.
